In addition to main programmes of study, enhancement courses in languages, sports and general studies are also offered to students. Extended project courses are also be available in the Upper Sixth.
To begin Advanced level courses a minimum of four GCSEs at grade 4 is expected together with a grade 5 in the subject to be studied. In subjects that are ‘new’ at advanced level or where a student may not have had the opportunity to study a particular subject at GCSE, a student’s general level of academic success at GCSE will be considered and discussed before a student embarks upon a course of study. For some revised new A level specifications, with a significant level of mathematical assessment incorporated within the qualification, a minimum GCSE grade 6 in mathematics will be required to enable a student to begin the course.
