Uniform

At Thomas Mills we consider it important that our students are smart and want them to wear their school uniform with pride. The way students and staff present themselves to others is an important part of our ethos and heritage.

In line with Government guidelines, we have endeavoured to keep the cost of our uniform down and there are only two items that need to be purchased specifically – a jumper and a tie. Everything else, including PE kit, can be sourced from a number of retailers and do not have to carry the school logo.

All our uniform  can be purchased via our dedicated supplier http://www.trutex.com/ including specific sports items, but which are not mandatory.

To start using the Trutex Uniform shop simply register at http://www.trutex.com/ and enter the school code LEA000158SC to start shopping. The Thomas Mills dedicated area will guide you through the uniform choices, delivery options and payment methods.

Our uniform options are set out below. If the school deems anything a pupil is wearing is not acceptable for school, it reserves the right to insist the pupil does not wear such items. For example, hoodies or sports tops should not be worn on the school premises.

Girls

  • Sensible black or brown shoes (not suede, canvas or trainers)
  • White or navy plain socks or black or navy tights
  • Pleated (stitched down) skirt in castle grey check, length on or below the knee
    OR
  • Mid-grey trousers (straight leg, creased, not flared or stretch fabric)
  • White shirt
  • School tie
  • Navy V-neck jumper with the school badge and motto; no other motif is acceptable

Boys

  • Sensible black or brown shoes (not suede, canvas or trainers)

Jewellery and Make-up:

Ear loops, hooks and large earrings are not suitable for school.  Movement around the school at times becomes congested and such articles of jewellery become a safety hazard.  For this reason, we ask students to confine themselves to one stud in each ear and other forms of jewellery are not acceptable.  The school reserves the right to insist that pupils remove make-up including nail varnish.

Hairstyles:

Extreme hairstyles are likely to be a distraction and for this reason we expect students to confine themselves to conventional styles.

Coats:

Should not be worn in the building but should be left in lockers or carried, preferably in a bag.
