Open Week
Thomas Mills High School held an Open Week for parents and visitors interested in enrolling pupils for September 2027.
Both the morning and evening events were very well attended an we enjoyed welcoming a large number of parents, visitors and prospective pupils.
Three of our students – Oscar, Robyn and Nicole – spoke to those attending about what the school means to them. We have featured their presentations below.
If you are interested in a student joining Thomas Mills but were unable to join us for one of our events, please get in touch with the school as soon as possible for an informal chat.
A personal invitation from Philip Hurst, Headteacher
You are invited to attend our week of Open Mornings (21st September – 25th September 2026) and Open Evening, which takes place on Thursday 24th September, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm for Pupils moving from Year 6 to Year 7 in September 2027 I will be giving presentations throughout the week at 9:30 am, with a tour of the school and refreshments to follow. Prospective parents and visitors will be able to see the school at work and to view many of the exciting opportunities available to students. If you know of any prospective parents who would be interested, I would be most grateful if you could pass on the details of our Open Mornings and Open Evening.
Students will be available to show visitors around the school and there will be an opportunity to visit lessons during the mornings. On Open Evening there will be presentations and displays of students’ work from all department areas and a range of activities. Our curriculum is wide ranging and provides an exceptional range of options at GCSE and at ‘A’ Level.
We continue to be a high performing school, and students make very good progress at all levels. Our work is centred around a new vision which is: “Together we aim high, discover talents, and build a brighter future.” We are delighted with the extra-curricular activities which are available to students – our extensive range of drama, music and sports provide excellent opportunities for all ages. Our students contribute enormously to the life of the school; including acting as school and house officials and taking an active role in many school events. We have also enjoyed many improvements to our site providing a spacious campus for learning.
Visitors who would like to attend for one of our Open Mornings, should follow the link below (or email in the required information) so that we can make appropriate arrangements. Visitors should arrive at school for a prompt 9:30 am start on these mornings. There is no need to send in a reply slip if the intention is only to come to the Open Evening. We politely ask that evening visitors do not arrive before 6.00pm as departments and guides will not be available.
I look forward to meeting you.
Phillip Hurst
Headteacher
