Our amazing aspiring biologists win a competition at Cambridge University!

Recently, four sixth form students from Thomas Mills Sixth Form won the ‘Most Original Submission’ in the Cambridge Biology Challenge, run by Homerton College at the University of Cambridge.

The judges said: “We were blown away by the creativity and original thinking behind the entry from Thomas Mills High School & Sixth Form. Alice, Lucy, Joshua, and Emily created an interactive earthworm-themed game to teach readers about their incredible biology. From their unusual method of reproduction (meaning that each earthworm is the father of half its children and the mother of the other half) to their incredible capacity for self-regeneration, team JALE from Thomas Mills explained difficult scientific concepts engagingly and effectively. They should be very proud of winning this award.”

The group is currently in the top 8 nationally, having completed 5 projects over the academic year. We are delighted to offer our sixth form students such exciting opportunities, which not only stretch their academic abilities but also give them a taste of life at one of the most prestigious universities in the world. We congratulate our students on their ingenuity; they have a bright future ahead of them.
