Celebrating great A-Level results for our students

Students and staff at Thomas Mills High School and Sixth Form are celebrating some great A-Level results which are in line with previous years.  Nearly three quarters of grades were between A* and C.

Andrew Cann, Assistant Headteacher and Head of Sixth Form said: “I am very proud of the performance of all students within the Sixth Form. These A-Level results pay testimony to the hard work, dedication, commitment and determination of the cohort and they reflect the professionalism and support of the teaching staff.”

Typically, each year 80% of the student body aspire to apply to Higher Education courses and this year is no exception. Most students in 2024 have progressed onto their chosen university course or apprenticeship which will broaden and develop their life experience and skill set.

Around 20% of the year group achieved at least A grades in all subjects. Particularly notable for achieving A* and A grades are:

  • Eva Balding (Biology, Geography, German)
  • Jamie Bennett (Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Physics)
  • Edie Evans (Biology, Chemistry, Art)
  • Anouk Harris (English Literature, History and Politics)
  • Jack Thrun (Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics)

Philip Hurst, Headteacher, added, “We congratulate our students on their well-deserved success and we wish them well in the next, exciting stage of their lives. It’s been great seeing their tremendous personal development and resilience.  They’ve contributed so much to the school and sixth form and we will miss them.”

Students can choose from a range of 32 possible subjects and the bespoke curriculum offer allows students to take a wide range of subject combinations.

Philip Hurst added, “We’re proud of our curriculum choice. Students enjoy the personalised choice allowing them to pursue their talents and hopefully their dreams.”
