Following a review of the schools needs we are pleased to advise that from September our school catering will be provided by Lunchtime Company.
Lunchtime are a specialist school food provider, who offer a dedicated and tailored service. The sourcing of good quality and local ingredients is one of their key priorities and they have a team of expert chefs that will train our school kitchen teams to produce tasty food which looks good on the counter. Their passion for working in partnership with us was a key feature of their bid to work with us and they will hold regular feedback sessions with pupils to tailor the offer accordingly, whilst providing healthy and nutritious food.
The transfer from our current provider has already begun and will involve the transfer of the kitchen team, consultation with pupils on menu development and serving suggestions. During the summer holidays there will be changes to the canteen itself to improve and expand the offer available and improve pupil flow.
This development, along with improvements to the payments system, is a demonstration of our commitment to our students and staff and ensuring they have good quality food available at break and lunchtime.
We will work with the team at Lunchtime to develop the food on offer and ways of serving it that encourage eating in the canteen and the immediate area outside, including ‘The Pod’ in the summer months. This will support our policy of food only being consumed in the canteen, the outside area adjacent or the field – and nowhere else across the school site. This policy will be more vigorously enforced from September moving away from the ‘Grab and Go’ culture that has developed.
We are looking forward to working with Lunchtime and will obviously be looking for feedback early in the new term!
