Every spring term, Year seven pupils at Thomas Mills High & Sixth Form get the opportunity to perform a song in the Year 7 Singing Competition. During their classroom music lessons, pupils learn about vocal technique and performance skills whilst learning a song. They then perform this song to the rest of their peers in front of a panel of judges.
As always, this is a hugely enjoyable event and it gives pupils a chance to develop both their vocal and performance skills, as well as their boosting their confidence.
This year’s winners sang Drunker Sailor with great gusto and there were some other beautiful performances, including You’ll Never Walk Alone as well as a medley of spirituals.
