Thomas Mills High School and Sixth Form headteacher, Philip Hurst, has been interviewed by the BBC following his recent press comments about the study of languages at school.
The Sunday Times (paywall) reported that a third of state sixth-forms do not have a single pupil studying French, Spanish or German, according to data from last year’s A-level exams.
It has not been compulsory to study a language to GCSE level since 2004, however Thomas Mills still very much encourages students to study languages with German, French and Spanish studied from Year 7.
