Thomas Mills High School & Sixth Form have welcomed record numbers of new students in the current academic year.
The number of new Year 7 students joining the school from the start of September increased by almost 30% from 145 in 2024 to 195 this year. Meanwhile, the number of Year 12 students joining the Sixth Form rose by 37% from 91 last year to 133 in 2025.
Thomas Mills Headteacher, Philip Hurst, said: “The continuing popularity of our school is a great testament to the variety of subjects we offer and the hard work of our teachers to encourage our students to become the best they can be.”
He added: “We are particularly pleased with the increase in the number of Sixth Form students this year, at a time when a dedicated sixth form provision appears to be struggling in some areas. We are very proud of our record as one of the region’s highest performing schools which attracts students from across Suffolk.”
Thomas Mills will be holding Open Mornings each day from 29th September to 3rd October to provide prospective parents with an opportunity to visit the school during a typical day. Registration in advance is required to attend an Open Morning via a form here.
There is also an Open Evening for parents and students on Thursday 2nd October from 6pm-8pm. Registration is not required. A Sixth Form Open Evening will be held on Thursday 20th November from 6pm-8pm.
