Year 11

A Level Music Remix Session!

We are incredibly lucky at Thomas Mills High School and Sixth Form to have such fantastic music facilities, and part of this includes the state-of-the-art Gingerbread Studios as well as our suite of macs! We have both GarageBand and Logic software throughout the school, which is incredibly useful for our GCSE and A Level students. Today, our A Level music students had a lesson led by leading music producer, Tim Gosden (Tim Gosden – Producer, songwriter and musician).

Tim guided the students through how to create their own remixes as part of the A Level music remix option for composition. Students learnt all about the history of Jungle music and its root in reggae and dub, as well as how to use an Amen drum break loop, create their own drum loops using splicing, and how add filtering and effects to the vocal sample. Everyone had a great time exploring this new genre of music and are now better equipped for this aspect of the course.
